He turned his head slightly and spotted Nathan sitting in a chair beside the bed.
“You?”
Nathan nonchalantly toyed with his watch without looking directly at him.
“Even Lucinda herself wasn’t aware. She was too nervous on that day.
Her hand was trembling when she shot you. The bullet didn’t hit your heart or hurt your artery.”
“Why?” Kyson asked feebly, confused.
Even if Lucinda hadn’t killed him with a single shot, he would have bled to death from the shot. Without Nathan’s intervention, he would undoubtedly be dead.
Or perhaps Nathan had saved him only to subject him to further secret torment?
“Why did I save you?”
Nathan understood what Kyson wanted to ask. He chuckled and said, “In the past six months, I’ve endured torment from the virus within me, coming close to death multiple times. But I also inflicted the same level of suffering upon you. Through severe punishments, you teetered on the brink of death on several occasions. Since you handed over the serum to me and now that I’ve recovered, we can let the past be in the past.”
